January is the perfect time to reflect on the previous year and make plans for the future. We don’t want to add anything else on your to-do list, so the team at Tidal Wave Auto Spa put together a list of habits for you to eliminate this year. These habits are decreasing your vehicle’s lifespan and can cost you money in the future. Check them out:

Ignoring Your Vehicle’s Upkeep

Your vehicle’s interior and exterior are important to maintain! To increase resale value, make it a habit to wash your vehicle and vacuum the interior at least once a week. This will keep your paint looking fresh and your cloth or leather interior in top-notch shape. (We suggest purchasing a membership to Tidal Wave Auto Spa’s Unlimited Wash Club – it allows you to wash your car once a day, every day!)

Disregarding the Emergency Brake

Most people use their vehicle’s emergency brake only if they’re parking on a steep hill. But we encourage you to use it every time you park your car! When you use the emergency brake, the weight of your vehicle is spread out more evenly. It increases the longevity of your parking pawl – a device that locks the transmission when you put your car in park.

Keeping Your Gas Tank Low

Your vehicle’s fuel has multiple purposes – of course, to enable you to get from A to B but also to keep your fuel pump cool! If you let your gas get low, your fuel pump is not submerged in the fuel, so it can get too hot which is not good for the pump. Keep your fuel levels over half a tank to ensure your fuel pump is adequately submerged.

We would love to help you keep your vehicle in top-notch shape! Bring your vehicle to your local Tidal Wave Auto Spa today.
